Mountaineering

Upcoming Trips

Brecon Beacons // February 2016

3 days solo in the winter in the mountains of South Wales. I will be practicing navigation techniques. Hopefully in poor visibility to really give me the test I need!

Peak District // February 2016

3 friends and I take on some very relaxed hilly strolls

Lake District // April 2016

I have 4 days of training with HF Holidays in April. That’s all I know so far. Except that it’s based in Coniston. Can’t complain with that.

Scotland // Summer 2016

Not sure when or where but my mum wants to go up Ben Nevis…

Past Trips

Snowdonia – November 2015

Took a friend up Snowdon in -10 and 90mph winds. His first time up a mountain as an adult and what a weekend to do it. In the midst of Storm Desmond if I recall! Read all about it here.

Gavarnie French Pyrenees – September 2015

A great couple of days in the mountains. Spent 2 days hiking. One low level and the other was a solo up Le Taillon. I need to go back here! Read all about it here.

Scotland – June/July 2015

A fantastic week in Scotland. Bad on the knees but good for the brain. Read all about it here.

Snowdonia – May 2015

Snowdon, Nantle Ridge and Tryfan. What a great weekend. Read all about it here.

Lake District – May 2014

Another weekend in the Lake District. This time we were camping in Buttermere with some friends. Went up Great Gable – Scafel Pikes brother – and bailed the second day due to some horrid conditions.

Brecon Beacons – April 2014

Camping with a stoma! Not as fun as it sounds but still had a great weekend in South Wales scaling Pen-y-fan and the Waun Fach Horseshoe. Horrible weather. Utterly wet.

Poland – August 2013

A proper mountain adventure. Spent 5 days trekking across the Tatras Mountains from South Poland to North Slovakia. Along the way we scaled Poland’s highest peak Rysy whilst carrying all our gear and staying in mountain huts. A glorious week and my first hut to hut route.

Lake District – August 2013

Spent 1 night camping in the Lake District at Wasdale Head. After a particularly long drive up on a Friday night we arrived at 2am. The next day was touch but still scaled Scafel Pike and then got drastically lost and ended up getting a £60 taxi. Second day was spent rather more leisurely upon the Old Man of Coniston.

Snowdonia – April 2013

2 nights Camping in the Welsh mountains. Scaled Snowdon up the formidable scramble that is Crib Goch. Also nailed Devil’s Kitchen and some other ridges.

Bulgaria – September 2012

Whilst backpacking across Bulgaria I spent 4 nights in the Bulgarian mountain resort of Borovets. Did quite a bit of solo climbing including Bulgaria’s highest peak Musala.
