Hello and welcome to my first post of 2015 and the first day of Janathon. I will be exercising and blogging every day for the next 31 days. The plan is to mainly focus on running to get up to pace for my races in February and March.
New year’s eve was particularly heavy and we partied until the very early hours of the morning. I didn’t wake up until midday and spent the next few hours trying to get my body into any sort of functioning state. It took me until half 5 to be in a good enough place to exercise. It turns out that rum is not a good cure for back pain. Whilst it certainly helped relieve the pain last night and got me dancing around it did not do wonders for me this morning.
So due to the dodgy back and having slightly overdone it on the booze I decided that running was definitely not a good idea. I couldn’t rely on my wobbly legs. I went for a bike ride instead. 10.2 miles which took 48:51. It was very pleasant for the first half. My legs felt good, my boozey head was getting a nice fresh breeze. The streets were quiet and there were not many cars about. Unfortunately the taffic lights were still doing their best to stop me at every junction. Damn you traffic lights. As I reached one side of my loop and started to head back it was then I realised how windy it was. No wonder my legs felt so good. The wind was doing most of the work. The second half was pretty painful. Full on head wind for the best part of half an hour.
I am glad it’s done as I was not looking forward to doing anything today. Better having done it though! I think I will be a bit more up for it tomorrow after spending a day in the office at work.
